After the crude pumpkin countdown finished, the updated page at Whysoserious.com included a letter from the Joker, instructing participants to take photos of prominent letters at locations nationwide and submit them to the site.
Ready to do what you're told?
First, don't start this before daylight. With a police force this corrupt, it's not safe to be out at night, and anyway, you won't be able to see the things you want to find.
Follow all of my directions to the letter and send photos of what you find.
I'll make it worth your while, I promise - for what it's worth...
The Game
Scraps of photographs scattered around the desk linked to 49 clues directing participants to numerous US cities. The files followed the format http://www.whysoserious.com/instructionImages/##.gif, starting with 0 and ending in 48. This resulted in 49 locations.
Two of the clues could not be recovered. Their content is as follows:
Standing on Champa under a giant question mark, look towards the "Old West" past 16th street. Keep your chin up.
Where Liberty meets Wood. Stand on the very tip of the west corner and face away from the street to see what suits you.
Reward
As the photographs were taken and submitted, letters featured at each location were cropped and inserted into the puzzle page.
After all 49 locations were discovered, the message was revealed to be:
